Orangie Is For Sale

Orangie with the Ursa Minor camper open at sunset below red rock mountains

Orangie is my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the orange camper Jeep from the venture4wd videos. I built it as a home on wheels and lived in it full-time for four years, wandering the US and Canada with no itinerary and no set return date. Since then it has been the high-mobility scout: the rig that keeps going where bigger vehicles turn around. The odometer reads 219,000 miles, but the Mopar crate engine under the hood has covered only 26,000 of them.

Nothing on it was bolted on for looks. Every piece earned its place on a trip, and it all still works. You can point this Jeep at a week in the desert, or a season of it, without adding a thing.

About $37,400 in parts

That is what it costs to buy this equipment new today, and it counts no labor at all. Several of these jobs were expensive to do: the engine swap, and the Webasto heater, which is plumbed into the factory gas tank and built into the chassis.

For reference, a stock 2013 Unlimited Rubicon with mileage like this sells privately for roughly $10,000 to $13,000. Everything above sits on top of that Jeep.

A few items are discontinued. Those are priced at the closest equivalent you can buy now.
